Building your audience starts with establishing who you want to be and what you want to talk about. Then you decide on who you will talk to and serve. Finally, you must decide on what online platform would you like to use to serve your audience. Will it be social media (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc.)? Will it be video marketing? (Facebook Live, YouTube) Will it be blogging via your website?
Step 2 is engaging your audience. Once you found the place you want to settle in as your main building platform, your goal is to create content that addresses the primary challenges of your target market. This allows you to be perceived as the expert and builds loyalty, trust, and rapport with your audience.
As you can see, once step 3, selling your audience rolls around, the sell is so easy. Why? Your audience is already sold on YOU! Therefore you can promote just about ANYTHING you want and your audience will buy from you because of all the work you have put in from steps 1 and 2.
