If you’re using scholarship links as a part of your SEO strategy, then you need to see this!

Scholarship links used to be a great way to drive traffic to your website. It was an SEO technique that worked well. Google put a high value on backlinks from .edu websites and scholarship pages became the ideal place for them.

Attorneys would set up a small scholarship for law students and send the information to every school and university possible. These .edu sites would put links to the business offering the scholarship on their scholarship page. The high-quality backlink would boost the law firm’s search rankings.

SEO companies were taking advantage of this new technique, but when someone discovers a trick that works for SEO, then everyone jumps on board. This tends to ruin it for everyone and that’s exactly what happened with scholarship links.

In this video, I discuss how this old white hat SEO technique left one of my clients with a manual Google penalty. Here’s how I got the penalty removed and why you may want to consider a new SEO company if yours is still using scholarship links.
